Yes, for whole blood it's every eight weeks. I donated at my previous job but with plasma I've donated in the past three times a week and they do put back the whole blood.

One bad thing about donating plasma over blood is needle size. Plasma needles are bigger. If you're squmish about needles for donating blood, you may want to think long and hard on plasma. I had a nurse rupture a vein of mine with a plasma needle.

Myhusband had his vein busted too...and one time they couldn't get the whole blood back in him and he had to wait the 56 days to donate again...yeah the needles are really big...

You can only go twice a week here...I wonder why that is?...

I have veins that hide so it's really hard for any nurse to get the needle in without causing me pain. But this one idiot just kept poking even though I'm going "ouch" "Ouch" "OUCH!" But I was able to go back to donate in about a week.

TA. I don't know why only twice a week. Maybe different state/country different health rules.

I also get paid more then someone mention. $300 for the whole week and you get paid each time you come in. So that's $100 a shot. I could really use a $100 right now.

Yeah I noticed that...Andy is even on some program that actually pays him more and he still only gets 35.oo per visit I think he gets an extra 50 a month if he goes twice a week all month long...the program is call anti-D...They give him an injection once a month and he produces antibodies and they use them for medicine to help women to not have miscarridges...I know he wishes he was getting paid what you are!! LOL

I use to donate about a decade ago and $35 sounds about right for what they paid. I think they had to increase the pay here to draw in more people to donate. We aren't a very big city so not many people donate. They even advertise on tv for whole blood needed for that week. Maybe people are big givers here. I don't know.

what's really fucked up is they sell the shit for like fourteen thousand american dollars (a bottle, that little bottle of 880 ml or whatever), and they give us small change from it... So it ain't really that big of a deal for them to toss in the extra money for incentive for smaller towns like les miserables is getting.. here we get 25 first time, 40 second, and we can't do it three times a week. But San Antonio is a big city plus a big illegal immigrant city, has alot of jobs and oppurtunity's for illegal aliens (though none for people like me). Those damn trackmarks you get from donating suck too, looks like you've been shootin up.

I tried to donate plasma here in michigan once but they wouldn't do it unless I came off my meds for a certain period of time and got a note from my doctor saying I was no longer taking that med. I can't remember which antidepressant it was though. Might just depend on the donation center.

I never met you and yet I know you,
at least I know much about you.
I know you need food, shelter
and things to do to keep you sane.
And I know that especially, you need someone . . .

I can't say that I am that someone,
but I am someone . . .
