Default Laid off indefinitely

Hi all. I'm a video game tester. My employer of 11 years just called last Wednesday night and told me that because I made too many mistakes (and I feel they were small mistakes) and because I had "poor productivity" (which is utter bullshit) they were letting me go and I was not welcome back. I am just making this post because I could use some sympathy. Depression is a bitch.

Thanks, ~Adam

Hey Eeyore1. Really sucks that you got the bad news. Can you not test games for a different place? How do they measure your performance in the job and also how do you make "mistakes" with testing games?

I have always wondered how it would be to play games for a living. I love gaming, i am sure in some instances i love it to much. Right now i am uber hyped for the new spiderman game!

Yeah, to answer your first question, I am applying for other testing positions. I'd rather not go into what is probably proprietary info that doesn't matter anyway for your second question. Thanks for responding.

Hey Eeyore, I'm sorry to hear that. I've been let go before when I was trying my best. I remember how that felt. I hope you can find another job within in your field with minimal downtime between. Don't beat yourself up. It doesn't help

Thanks EmpatheticThoughts, that was very kind and uplifting message for me. I did try my best, too.

I am very glad that you are already applying at different places.

Ahhh ok, it would have been food for thought for me lol, but i respect your wishes.

Just keep doing your best, dont stop applying. Try to stay positive as far as possible. Good luck with getting another job.

For me, getting fired was one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

I have so much more free time.

I spend less on lunch and transportation anyway, so I might actually be saving money, who knows.

I have more appreciation for the little things I get and the little money I have.

I wake up excited about each day, because I have freedom to do things that naturally attract my interest, instead of doing menial, boring, repetitive tasks to make the rich richer.

I actually like rain now, because instead of that meaning I will have to take a cab home and spend $35, it means I get to read in my room.

I love night time, staying up while all the rat racers have to set their alarms.

How can you benefit from this adversity?
