Default Rejections are starting to break me.

I have been very fortunate in some sense. I got my degree in July last year, a BA(Hons.) in Primary Education with a 2:1. I worked really really hard, pulled my grades up from distinctly average in my first year to a solid 2:1 grade. Passed all my modules and all my teaching practises.

I've been doing some supply teaching, but my company has never really given me that much work - simply because of where I live. I don't want to leave my home to have to get more work. There's nothing more that I want than to get a solid, full time teaching job. I've wanted this career since I was 9, and I've finally got it. I must have submitted about 40 applications and short of 1 interview, have had nothing but rejections.

I don't know how much longer I can keep on applying to jobs that clearly don't even want to consider me. Should I even bother trying? If I was that good a teacher then I wouldn't keep getting these rejections, I would get more than 1 interview and maybe even, God forbid, get a job.
I just want to get my life started with the job that I've ALWAYS wanted. I want to be a teacher, it's one of the few things I get pleasure out of in this horrid life I've got going right now.

Unfortunately you may need to start applying to some jobs outside of your home town. If you really want to be teaching and you haven't had any luck with the applications you've sent out for positions near your home, then you might not have a choice. I don't know if you have a family or anything that would make moving difficult, but perhaps you could apply in nearby cities and commute? Good luck in the search. I hope you find something soon.

I can understand your frustration. I got married and moved to another city. and the job search has been really frustrating for me too. every weekend i see the newspapers, apply for jobs, but same response... nothing. Before marriage i was teaching in a university as a part time faculty. and here in this city its really frustrating not to get a job anywhere! the last thing i wanted to do was teach in a school... and that seems to be the only choice i have right now :(

Wish you luck in your job search. I hope you get the job of your choice real soon.

I've been applying in about a 20 mile radius around both my and my parent's homes, and I'm still not having any luck! I'm just getting tired of not getting ANYTHING - not even a response. I wouldn't mind so much if I knew what was going on, but I don't.

You are within your rights to ask why your not getting an interview. Most public sector jobs have a scoring system and it might be that you need to 'tweak' your applications slightly or that you are leaving something important out. It's definately worth doing as their comments will probably be useful, although most of us find critisim hard to take it might just help get you where you want to be. Or you could just try a big bar of Dairy Milk for a short term fix

Good luck
