Default More job woes

Got called today about a job I interviewed for that pays alot more money (and I could use it) but I turned it down. Guy is calling me in 25 minutes to try to get me to change my mind.
(It's an IT job)
I really feel bad about not not taking it but I'd have to leave my lower paying job for what I thought was a more hard core manager, and they really want someone who is on call all the time...and lives IT support.
I feel like crying almost anyhow...but I don't know that I could fake it
(especially that I want to go back to college and move out of Atlanta anyhow).

I just need moral support to know that I'm doing the right thing and not cave when the staffing guy calls me soon.

Heh I guess that's pretty simple.

It's just a downer when some of these corporate jobs, it's never just a job to these people. If I thought it was just a job I'd take it.

But on call duty, staying late, working extra hard...they want someone who has a passion for it.

It's like $10k more a year.

I think I'm going to be sick.

Money would have been good since I'm poor poor poor now but I'm so concerned I could meet expectations there.

Gunna go be sick some more now.

It's almost enough to (with everything else in my life) to make me wish I was dead.

my life=toliet. *flush*

Similiar to your situation I almost changed jobs (a year ago though). Would have been 10K more a year plus the extra hours. Also in IT. Wasn't in the right frame then and didn't think I could handle it. The decision to stay where I'm at was best - too much pressure. So maybe you made the right decision but can certainly understand how it makes you sick to your stomach. Story of my life...

Well I really could use the money...I'm not paying all my bills on time as it is...but I was concerned that a few weeks in, they'd be mad if I wasn't really pulling my weight. (and no I couldn't handle the pressure anymore or the working late)
(and I'm trying hard to sell my house so I can move out of this city)

I just really don't have my crap together...I'm just kind of floundering around.

All day the few people I've told are just berating me.

Idiot, stupid, you needed money...

I'm starting to get generally pissed off.
I'm ready to just throw away most of my belongings, mail the key to the bank and walk away.

Geeky girl, I know how you feel. I lost my job a few months ago and got offered other jobs of similar or higher pay, but I knew that I was so tired of the business that I just couldn't do it, could not do it. I was burned, I'm still burned out. Sounds like your heart is elsewhere--you can't fight that, follow your heart. You can't show up for work everyday, miserable. Ultimately it shows and employers don't want you anymore.

Those people who are berating you don't know what your going through. people said the same things to me; I ignored them and it's hard now, but I think down the road, I'll be hapier. You're at a crossroads in your life. Give your dreams a shot. Forget the past and move forward.

Geekygirl,..best not to take a job that you would be miserable doing,....even if it pays more,..you would end up leaving sooner than later!!!

GeekyGirl - You know you truly need to try to listen to what your heart says & not what your brain is always telling you; you'll make a wiser choice..... We'll be here for you....
