Default I don't have an appetite anymore

Well, i'm 16 years old, 98 ibs, and around 5"2 to 5"5 inches tall. Somewhere around there, well anyway. My weight is a problem for me. I'm extremely skinny, skeletal looking I guess. Kids at school whisper about how skinny I am. I don't eat as much as I should or get a proper nutrition. I don't eat breakfast or lunch. I usually wait until the evening to eat something. I don't know why I do this. I used to always be hungry, but now i've noticed that I don't have an appetite anymore. I'm not anorexic or bulimic, i'm not afraid of getting fat. I typically eat only one meal a day. Whenever I get takeout from a restaurant, I typically eat a little bit at a time until I finish. I know I get my eating habits from my mom, because my mom is like that too. When my mom was in her 30s, she weighed as much as me now! My mom had anemia, and had to take medicine for it. When I went to the doctor, they said my blood sugar was low. I feel faint and tired a lot. Why am I doing this to myself?

Hi, i'm new to this site but have had similar problems. When I was about 15, I was 4'9 and weighed about 87-90 lbs. The thing is, not eating or skipping meals can and will make you feel tired, but this is not the only thing that starving yourself will do. It can also make you feel depressed, angry, and unable to get proper sleep. For the most part because it deprives your body of proper chemicals your brain and body need to function like melatonin, and serotonin which help regulate sleep and mood cycles. One way to make up for any nutritional deficiencies is you can take some supplements, but i wouldn't recommend it over just plain eating right. Another method to try if you never feel hungry is to try joining a sport or doing exercise. It sounds contradicting to gaining weight, but gauranteed that if you workout you'll get hungry and gain weight from muscle build up and you'll feel good about yourself afterwards due to the chemical endorphins that kick in once you exercise. It doesen't have to be any extreme workouts either if you don't like that much muscle, but i'd say bear minimum of about 15-20 min of an aerobic activity. Like I said when I was 15 i was about 87-90 lbs at 4'9. Today im 20 weigh 115-120 lbs and stand at 5'4. Im still at the bottom end of the weight chart but im ok health wise and stronger than some people might think at first appearance. You might also want to check out your exact height and weight because the difference between 5'2 to 5'5 can be a huge difference in weight standards. This is just my opinion though, if you think it might help try it if not try something else, you never what works for certain people because were all slightly different on some level, but if you have a problem try doing some research it can really help to solve some issues.

If you're suffering from depression, it's not unusual to either overeat or undereat. Even if you don't think you have an eating disorder (and since you're not consciously trying not to eat you may not have) your lack of an appetite could still be symptomatic of something else like depression. Have you tried forcing yourself to eat? Just a piece of fruit or some cereal in the morning or something. Skipping breakfast in particular can make you feel very weak throughout the day. You might feel less faint and tired if you could try incorporating some breakfast into your daily routine.

I do have depression, that's probably why i'm not eating as much. School is causing me a lot stress and anxiety. I hope I can eat better.
