Default Juno's dream journal

In which I will describe, as best I can, some of the dreams I have. They're often quite vivid and detailed, and I realize how difficult it is to describe a dream to someone who hasn't experienced it. But nevertheless I will try.

This one triggers for spiders.

Last night: I went to the library in the town I grew up in. I was looking for three thrillers, one by Larry Bond (actual author), one called In the Realm of the King, and another which I forget the details of.

I had to ask the librarian to help me look for these books. She was wearing a white coat with a name tag that said Jennifer, but she had borrowed it from the other librarian she was covering for. As we were talking a big spider climbed over her head and I tried to brush it away and ended up killing it with my hand.

We found all of the books. One was in a series about an action hero in a wheelchair. I was trying to decide whether to read the one I wanted, which was the ninth book in the series, or start out at the beginning.

I noticed that lots of people were talking in the library, and on phones, etc. I lamented that people weren't being quiet any more. In a corner, a male member of staff was singing/chanting into a microphone hanging from the ceiling.

As I was checking out, I told the librarian who had helped me that I'd seen Vic Chesnutt sitting in the library in the past, on the same night he was due to play the Borderline in London. I gave the librarian my card but she said they now use little plastic sticks, and I said I didn't like that idea.

I'll try to recount last night's in order of events, but I might not get it quite right...

A woman in her 40s/50s was trying to seduce me. She was the organizer of a big sports event - the entertainment for it (kind of like Superbowl half time). She was also having an affair and cheating on her husband/boyfriend.

I was walking the streets and met Philip Seymour Hoffman in a restaurant, and returned a pocket diary to him that he had lost. Eventually, a woman from South America caught up to me and challenged me - I was a man whose child had gone missing in Argentina 20 years ago and I was carrying photos of the child around with me. She was an investigator with the police, and she ripped up the photos.

Meanwhile, Harrison Ford was filming a Star Wars/Indiana Jones crossover movie, but it was only the 1930s, so I wasn't sure how it could be filmed in color and with special effects.

I went to a hotel where someone was going to drop off a package for me, and went upstairs to a kind of bar, but the seats were like in an arena or stadium, and a man threatened me with violence, so I left.

Last night: My mother (who lives in London) was living in the U.S. and won a 2 night trip to London in a radio contest. It actually cost her $50 and she put it on a rewards card from a dry cleaning company. I was trying to figure out if the overnight flight counted as being the first night.

Last night: I was watching Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, even though I don't like that movie. In a scene the heroes were in a shaft, with just a long strap tied to something at the top of the shaft for support. The bad guy came along and cut the strap but the heroes survived OK.

Then I was in the backyard of my grandparents' house, and a movie scene was being filmed. I was over at one side, trying to thread shoelaces through holes in the top of a cardboard box and tie them together to keep it shut.

The scene was finished and I walked towards the house, and turned and I saw a tornado form in the sky behind the next street. The tornado was lit with its own weird yellow light that spiraled in the same way as the cloud.

Then I ran into the house, where my family was, and we looked out the window and the tornado got closer and the whole house was moving sideways and then lifted into the air.

I can only remember random scenes...

Walking through a park in search of somewhere that sells baseball cards, then sliding down a large ramp inside a building, where the fixtures were all yellow.

Putting a wadded up piece of paper in the fireplace with my grandfather watching.

Last night was the first nightmare I had since starting this journal. I don't have nightmares much, fortunately.

Triggers for vampires.

A vampire was lurking in my bedroom, and in the back room of some house or place I had to go to. I would approach the door of the back room with trepidation, the door would fly open, the vampire would be standing there, and we would be staring intently at each other.

The vampire became Moriarty, and he and Holmes flew around the air outside a house. At one point one of them was flying slowly and not far off the ground, but just out of reach of the people watching.

Then I was driving a huge pickup up a gravel slope in a schoolyard. Then I was outside the truck, and it had been driven by a bad guy, and he and his gf were ambushed by students, who pranked them.

Then I needed to score 101 with three darts on a dartboard.

I was following a mechanic into the house I grew up in. I was in the bathroom, and warily looking in the mirror, and the mechanic, or someone, grabbed me from behind. I also saw that the ceiling was coming away from the wall in places.

Last night: I was using a smartphone to text someone I work with and they made general sexual remarks (not aimed at me). So I saw them in a different light. Then one of my friends posted video of her flashing the camera.

A new person started at work and I was going to friend him through social media but I was reluctant to do so, because I didn't know what he was like,

From time to time I dream about my first job, being stuck on reception and lots of stressful things happening. I had these dreams a lot while I was working there and in the years immediately after. Now they've dwindled but I still have them now and again.

In the dream a dangerous man appeared at the reception desk and had some kind of fit, then he attacked other people and someone tried to restrain him while someone called the police.

Then I was at work (present job) and trimming ear hairs and a couple of women noticed and were laughing about it. There was also a woman I actually used to work with who I was attracted to, and I was making fun of myself to her and she was laughing. Then I watched an episode of the X Files which had no opening credits or theme music.

Then I was in the bedroom of the apartment I lived in with my mother, and my parents were on my bed and we were all listening to the radio as a very important person was visiting our town, and meanwhile a bad guy was flying a helicopter nearby and going to purposely crash it, or abduct a boy.

I switched to a better radio on my stereo but had trouble finding the same frequency, and started to play a radio play instead, but my mother said she wanted to listen to the news broadcast.

Then I was telling my father in law about the crossword puzzle and how I had trouble with a couple of tricky clues and really had to think hard for a long time before figuring out the answers.
