I feel as though the harder I work and try to find happiness, the more miserable I become. That in turn just unleashes a storm of desperation, of feeling worthless. If looking for happiness is this, does that mean that happiness itself is misery?

Or is it that the misery is necessary to reach happiness? Which one is it? What is the key to this elusive thing called happiness that is defined as a state of bliss?

How did you achieve being happy with who you are?

There is no one key. Different people find happiness for different reasons and in different things. Despite what Hollywood may tell you, no one is happy all the time. Happiness can come and go, change with mood, etc. So I think the goal is to find small amounts of happiness first through the little things in life - a cup of coffee, reading a favorite book - and meanwhile work on the things you don't like about your life that you CAN change, and work on acceptance of the ones you CAN'T change.

Thats a tough one. The few things in life that make me happy, are essentially one in a hundred, the times I get to do them. The rest of the time is being around people, most of who essentially suck away what little peace I can manage to have.

Make your own definition of happiness, rather than relying on what society tells you that you need to be happy.

Do not think about things that others expect you to do. Instead, do things that you like and find fulfilling.
