Default Waking up with cuts.

Just woke up this morning

Just as I thought my nightmares everynight where bad.
Recently now and then I keep waking up with cuts on my body?
First of it started with my girlfreind noticing some cuts, thinking I have cut myself.
2nd time, I had 3 pretty deep thin lines on my higher leg in a row.
3rd, I had markings on the back my neck with a line which led all the way up into the back of my head, I couldnt see it but could feel it.
Now this morning I have 4 very sore like scratch marks (one drawing blood a little) all close together, they do look pretty bad, when I got in the shower i was like what the hell.

Any explaination for this? anyone had anything similar?

I've had similar things happen, like weird scratches and stuff appear when I wake up.

You must scratch%

That's kind of weird and freaky. Yeah, you must scratch and not realize it when you're sleeping. I can't think of any other logical reason.

I see doctors and psychiatrists about everything, but I have not told them this, its only been happening recently.

I just find it weird aswell, as the ones on my leg did not look like scratch marks more like something along the lines of a razor did them as they where very thin and looked deeper than the ones I woke up with this morning.

I tryed scratching myself really hard, I dont see how this is possible.
Even my girlfreind tryed it just leaves a red mark for a few mins.
Esp cause I was wearing shorts last night and there tight around the waist.
The several marks where like in the area middle of my boxers, how is this possible when I was wearing shorts and boxers?

I get them all the time, even when I'm not having nightmares (at least to my knowledge), what it must be is when I'm dreaming about something intense for whatever reason I grab onto myself wherever my hands happen to be, so I end up digging into my skin and scratching myself.

At least that's what I assume happens, I just occasionally wake up with some scratches on my back that look like I got in a fight with a cat, lol. If you're worried about try trimming your nails but I'd say it's just a reaction to an intense experience you're dreaming about rather than it being anything masochistic.

r u on any medicine? anti depressants to be specific? when i was on prozac, i kept waking up the same way. i thought it was my evil cat bc he liked to attack my mom when she was asleep so i thought he was doing it to me bc i had scratchs on my arms. it lasted for over a week then i woke up in the middle of the night covered in sweat and my aforearms felt like they were on fire i turned on the light and saw not onli a few bleeding cuts surrounded by scratches (that werent bleeding) but there was skin and a little blood under my fingernails. i told my therapist and he just took it as i was lying and i was cutting again, never mind it was on my arms not my wrist or legs and i had admitted it happened not waited for him to talk it out of me! but all i could do was cut my fingernails really really short, like my fingers hurt bc they were so short! and whther or not ur on meds u should still talk to a doctor or someone. find the root cause of it b4 it gets worse
