Default Omega 3 for depression relief

Here is an article about a recent Canadian study (concluded in 2009) that gives the hope we can help ourselves feel a lot better from depression with Omega 3 (EPA) oil. You can find this study discussed in various other articles on the web as well.

The second link is for more of a 'how to' kind of article about changing your diet and including more helpful fat (Omega 3) and less unhelpful fat (Omega 6) for your psychological needs.

Cheers!

Thanks hottea.
I've been taking fish-oil for about 2 months now. I don't know if it was working. I certainly don't feel content and energetic right now. But i'm not physically despondent either.
I also have been taking st. john's wort too.

Glad to be helpful, Whatswrongwithme2. From reading the article, it sounds like they are calling for about 1,000mg of EPA in the oil. Not all fish oil has that much in it, so double check that you are taking about that level of the EPA specifically, if you can. I hope it is helping you!

Making changes in your life, especially so many dramatic changes all at one time like you are dealing with, is very difficult. It is okay to struggle when you face challenges like you have. That does not mean we desire to struggle, but sometimes it is part of the circumstances even in the best case scenario. I hope you come to a better place in your affairs and emotions soon.

Something I personally discovered years ago was that electrolytes were a critical part of my well being when I was struggling with depression at one point. You may be far more nutrient conscious then I was, but taking an electrolyte supplement made a big difference for how I felt emotionally then.

The mor epa brand is 30 bucks a bottle, and i swear it makes me feel better. It also helps with inflammation. I havent found many generic fish oil brands that work this good. i havent been consistent in taking it every month, usually its every other month. They have a brain formula even, but i use the epa dha formula. They have a ton of research on their website Fish Oil Supplements - Minami Nutrition

Omega 3 is important. Fish oil is good but not all of the pill forms are good.
I also recommend flax seed oil it has many healing benefits is a super
