I think it's totally about ins. if you are middle class and barely making ends meet, you don't qualify for public assistance, I went through this when I was working 60 hrs a week waiting tables with 4 kids to raise, and the place I worked for didn't have any health ins plan, and the state said that I made too much money LOL. I had to get sick, lose my job, for the state to do anything! It's very frustrating!!
