I always really feel like I can relate to pretty much anything with Paul Giamatti. That guy plays the sad, depressing loser better than anyone. My depression isn't as bad these days, but if you want a look into my persona when I'm depressed, look no further than Giamatti.

I'm Harvey Pekar (American Splendor) on my good days, Miles Raymond (Sideways) on my bad.

American Beauty is a great one...shows a non-conventional side of life in the trap of suburbia
Little Miss Sunshine is also amazing...hilarious and quirky with characters you can connect with.

I love American Beauty. Then we had to analyse it for lit and it kind of ruined it for me...

My favourite is the Royal tennenbaums. Dont know how this movie makes me feel better but it always does...

American Beauty is brilliant. I like watching Donnie Darko, I think he reminds me a bit of myself...

Default Dancer in the Dark

I find it always helps me to watch a movie that makes me realize that I don't have it quite as bad as I sometimes think I do. Nothing does that as well as "Dancer in the Dark," which is easily the most depressing and sad film ever made (in my opinion). I've watched it many many times and each time finds me bawling like a baby by the time it's over. It stars the singer Bjork and wow, what an actress she is! Unfortunately, she has said that this role was so emotionally draining and difficult for her that she'll never act again. I don't blame her...it is an emotionally brutal film. Bjork also provides songs for the soundtrack, and here is the song "A New World" that plays over the closing credits:
