Default Waiting for Godot

I had to read this for my English class. It's odd how it turned out, because we were warned that it was very depressing, and afterwards most of my seminar group agreed.

...Except I thought it was hilarious.

Well, it is described as a Tragicomedy. I guess the comedy is just the lesser seen of the two halves. At any rate I'm glad I'm among the few who enjoyed it rather than feeling bad after reading it.

Has anybody else read this play?

I read it years ago, and I too thought it was really funny, so it's not just you. I'm a fan of surreal humour, so I enjoyed it.

I've read it and found it pretty funny but depressing also. Though I only seem affected by depressing things when they're presented in a humourous way, for some reason. Makes it seem more tragic, maybe.

I've seen a live performance and a movie version. It's one of my favorite plays. It's excellent.

Honestly, I think what's his face, Becket is intensely depressing. He manages to project this image of crustiness and pointlessness. He sucks :=]

I really want to read this ever since i heard an excert on the radio. But i know how bekett can be depressing and miserable people say about him but he is a genius from what i have read of his work. Isnt he the one who said 'for all its outer poetry, nature is a slaughter house.' I thought that was very clever and true unfortunatley or its certainly one view anyway.
He supposed to be existentualist.
