Default Ways of dealing with panic attacks on the spot?

Hey all, been having worse panic attacks when im in public and speaking to people, just want to know if you guys have any tips or tricks that have either helped you overcome the anxiety when you are having a panic attack...or at the very least made them more manageable

Is it when you are public speaking or is it just generally?

Its a hard one, I find the more prepared you are the better. And have some kind of escape plan, so just duck out to the bathroom if you need to or let people know that you may have to leave early if it gets to bad.

If its to do with public speaking, that's a whole other ball game. It does pay to be prepared and there are a lot of techniques out there that are meant to help. One thing I've tried is a pressure point on my hand, when I get anxious I press it and it sort of distracts me from the anxiety... having said that I've been in meets and have nearly ripped my hand off!

Anxiety is a really common problem and there are books out there that can give you an idea of how to deal with and a understanding about how and why it happens. I'd really recommend going to the library or a bookshop and looking at the self help section, there may be something there that will really help you.

Guided meditations also have helped me in the past to be a bit more relaxed.

Good luck!

yeah, just in general. like when i am in a situation i feel i cant escape or i feel threatened or alone lol. yeah i find that the squeezing pressure point of my hand thing helps. breathing out deeply really helps for me aswell, but you cant exactly do that when there are alot of people standing around you looking at you lol...

Not really. I usually retire to the restroom or some other private spot, and do some deep breathing, and just try to regain my composure.
Sometimes it works.

If you figure out a better way to stop panic attacks, let me know.

do regulated breathing, I like a few yoga breathing techniques, plus just think of that place you went or other calming thoughts, it's helped me get out of some bad attacks
