Default I can't sleep.

I can't sleep. It's so lonely sleeping in this bed by myself. Yeah, I have a roommate... but it's not the same. I've shared a bed with my sister for as long as I can remember. When I'm not sharing a bed with her, I'm sleeping in my boyfriend's bed, wrapped up in his arms. I just really miss being close to someone. I want to be at home, sleeping next to my boyfriend. Yes, I need to be here... but still. I want to be with Ian; I miss him so much, and I don't know how to express that to him via the phone or the internet. We're not good at conversations on the phone or online... thus it's hard to really get through to him how much I miss and love him. I do get to see him this weekend, which will be really nice. But after that, then what? Will I not get to see him until Thanksgiving? That's sort of depressing.

*sighs* Okay. I'm done.

It's good that you posted on here, at least you got to write a little while you couldn't go to sleep. I often end up feeling restless in bed and so I have to take some medicine in order to fall asleep.

I'm the same way! I get upset if i have to sleep alone, it's a nice feeling having someone there next to you.

I know this is crazy and everyone says it but counting actually does help me fall asleep when I can't. Reading helps also.

I count backwards from 100, sometimes. It usually goes something like: "100, 99, 99, 98, 98, 97, 97, 96....etc...)

But it doesn't always work. ><

I've tried counting before. It doesn't really work for me. I'll start counting and loose track at fifty-something. All it does is frustrate me so I quit and just lay there.

I can feel myself becoming more agitated and restless as lying in bed alone lets my mind wander to darker corners so reading helps me concentrate on something else rather than thoughts and feelings. It is worth trying a couple of times I hope you have some success with it.
Sometimes I leave the TV on too with no idea why. guessing the noise just makes me feel less lonely.

Background noise prevents the mind from wandering. This is because it's too busy focusing on what the noise is, which leaves an inability to focus on the deeper, darker thoughts. I keep radios and TVs on while I sleep all the time. It's almost because it's less lonely. Sleeping in a room by myself is terrible. As a matter of a fact, leaving the TV on while I sleep has become force of habit, and I did it when I was staying the night at my boyfriend's house. He asked me why I was keeping it on while I was going to sleep, and I said it's because I always do. It makes the room less lonely while I sleep. He turned off the TV and said, "You don't need that. You have me." My heart almost melted. He's the only thing that can help me fall asleep within a timely manner. I can't do that as a result of anything else. Nothing else helps me fall asleep like being in his arms, and I can't even do that at the moment, because he's umpteen miles away from me... *sighs* It's gonna be a long time until winter break.
