this prob sounds crazy.. but this time of year always scares me.. the fireworks. i have a fear that a firework will come thru my bedroom window one night and explode by me.. they should ban fireworks. they keep me up cus i worry about it.. i have to look for them when they sound like they are getting near to check where they are.

i also have this idea.. the bangs could be used as a cover up.. gunshots.. what if someone is shot.. how would ppl know... they would assume its just a firework going off. im so scared of guns going off.. so i also listen to the bangs.. listening out for anything that sounds different to the other bangs... or one off bangs. then look for the explosion... if i cant see explosions then i get scared..cus i dont know where it comes from..huh.. idk

Oh I can help with this one SC, I do this for a living.

Consumer fireworks are basically gags, large sparklers, the parts that shoot off aren't much on fire, they're mostly little bits of heated metals and paper. They won't explode again after they've gone off the first time, and even if they did they wouldn't hurt you any. Not at that sort of distance. The real people in danger are the ones who are holding them (they can explode out of the side with a lot of force) and the people who look into them, or jump over them. They have a lot of speed and force coming out, but not far away. Also, you would almost have to tape the firework to the window to make it break the window. You'll be perfectly safe inside SC, and if it still worries you the best thing is to have a fire extinguisher nearby. It won't explode but fireworks still can cause a fire if they sparkle near flammable objects, but a chemical fire extinguisher can solve that no problem. Fire departments can teach you how to use a fire extinguisher properly if you're concerned, just call one up and ask them.

ok, we call them different things here, i'll research into this more to be sure about the regulations where you are, but no, i don't expect they'll break your window and explode in your house. governments don't generally give the general population explosives dangerous enough to do that kind of damage.
you'll be just fine SC, they just sound scary. maybe try sleeping with earplugs in, or play your favourite music really loud and sing along, throw yourself a party.
or take a course on them, when i was little i didn't like the loud noises either, and once made my family leave a celebration because the fireworks were too loud, but now i light large professional ones myself. because i know what they do, what the risks are, and what to expect from them
