I got off meds after they worsened my anxiety disorder - the meds I used to be on even caused some short-term memory loss, which is seriously f*cked up.

Have you tried any alternative treatments to deal with panic attacks? I've been doing things like changing my diet & exercise routine, keeping an 'anxiety' journal, and practicing meditation/relaxation techniques.

I tried Wellbutrin and Citalopram but didnt get very good results from either one. I have since given up on meds. I think they do wonders for some people; I am just not one of them.

Am I the only one here that's dosed to the gills with xanax and neurontin for anxiety?

SSRIs are not anxiety meds. They say they may help, but Ive never had an SSRI help. maybe a teeny bit, but not enough to allow me to be around ppl or function. The only thing that helps with my anxiety med wise is benzos. But they are addictive as hell.

I would guess it means "working", whatever works, or maybe quick and definite acting like a benzo.

Hello everyone, I've been taking seroxat for about 3 months now, and I've been taking lexaurin (bromazepam) for over a year now.. I don't feel much better, anything can totally set me off in terms of not being able to function because of paranoia and anxiety.

What worked best for my times of extreme anxiety/feelings of panic was Ativan (lorazepam). However, it's only supposed to be for short-term use--they say it's addicting. I never got a nice little buzz or anything from it, so not sure why it's so addicting. ?? What was so helpful was that it was fast-acting (within 15-30 minutes) and it WORKED. It provided relief, if only for 6-8 hours.

So what I am on now, since having the anxiety/panic was so ongoing, is buspirone 20 mg and hydroxyzine 100 mg at bedtime. I believe it has helped me sleep better which helps overall. The hydroxyzine is supposedly an anti-anxiety med but it has never helped me on an acute basis....I just take it at night with the hopes that it is helping. (probably not a good reason) She had me on 60 mg buspirone at bedtime, but I was starting to feel very "flat" and did NOT like that.....other people noticed it too so I asked to decrease it.

I'm also on Cymbalta 60 mg and just recently she added Lexapro 20 mg.

I hate being on all this, and it is EXPENSIVE, but it is helping me function/go to work/not be a crazy mess. I also have gained weight.

Don't know if that helped, but that is my experience up to now.

Does anybody think I will ever get off all the meds and be "normal" again? It's been 3 years trying this and that.
