Default Renaming TTL to make visiting "safer"

Hi everyone,

Sometimes you just don't want others to know you're visiting a depression related forum at work or at home, whether because you're supposed to be doing something else, or because the way you're feeling is your own business.

In order to prevent anyone who steals a glance at your screen from observing that you're visiting a depression related forum, you can now "rename" TTL to give it a custom header that will appear on every page, and custom text that will appear in your browser tab when on the home page.

You can rename TTL via Edit Options in your User CP. Here is a direct link, https://www.takethislife.com/profile.php?do=editoptions.

We hope you find this feature useful.

I actually think this is brilliant! I've used several forums of this nature and this is the first time I've seen such an option being offered. I would say this is hugely useful. Thanks for this!! :)

I changed the header text, and that worked fine, but on the browser tab and window it still says "The Depression Forums". Is changing the header text supposed to change the text in the browser tab as well, or is that a separate option?

I was thinking the same until I clicked on the new header (with the text of my choosing) and returned to the main page. It then had the browser tab and the window header saying my chosen text too :) When you go to other pages it changes again but if you simply return to the main page the same way as described then it all goes customised again :)

You're welcome, guys! I'm glad you find it useful.

Knox, the custom name you entered should always appear in the browser tab when you visit the home page, but other pages retain their original text in their browser tabs.

I about spit my coffee out when I read the first few words of this thread! I thought you were going to change the actual name of the site! I love how crims and I can talk about "TTL" and nobody knows what we mean!

Ok....heart attack over.

Hmmmm, a new name. What shall I choose....can we be provacative?

Can we change it whenever we want?

I came up with a great one! And the font makes it look so cool. Are we allowed to say what we came up with??
