Default Please Do Not Talk About Your Challenges In Chat

Dear members,

Please do not talk about your challenges in chat
I want to remind you all not to talk about depression or other challenges in chat. The chat is for light-hearted topics, not for venting, talking about how bad you are feeling, and commenting on negative aspects of your situation. You can ask each other how you are doing, and you can write short replies, but please do not engage in long discussions about your own or other members' challenges in chat.

Why can I not post about my challenges in chat?
Depressed members do not always have the energy to support other members. It is important to respect that, and use the appropriate venues to ask for support. Posting about your challenges in chat puts a lot of pressure on the members participating there. This can lead to supportive members leaving chat and the site all together. It can also prevent new members from joining in, because they do not have the energy to contribute and support the members who are suffering.

The purpose of the chat
Depression is hard to deal with, and having a place where you can get a break and think about other things can help. This is what the Lighter Side forums and chat are for. We added a real time chat so that you can get to know each other more easily and talk to each other in a positive setting.

Where can I post if I need support?
If you need support, please start a new thread in one of the forums in the Challenges section. If another member states that they feel bad, please encourage them to create a new thread. This way members who feel up to it can support each other, while other members will not feel pressured to do so.

Please respect other members and help us keep a positive focus in chat by making new threads when you want support, and by not posting about your challenges in chat.

Please see this these threads for further information about chat:

If you have questions or concerns, you can contact us by making a new thread in the Contact Moderators forum.

Thank you,
Ella

Dear members,

Please remember that the guidelines apply in chat and private messages as well.

Please do not talk about religion outside of the Faith forums
.
We only permit posts about religion in the Faith forums. This is to prevent members from being triggered by such topics, and also to prevent arguments between members with different faiths. Please respect other members by not talking about religion in chat, PM or in forums outside of the Faith section. Please also respect each other's beliefs.
It can be very upsetting to be subjected to beliefs that are not your own, and this can lead to members leaving the forum. The Faith forums are part of our support community. As such, it is not a place for debates or trying to convert others to any particular set of beliefs. If you find that you cannot be supportive of a particular religion or set of beliefs, please refrain from posting in its forum.

Do NOT ask for personal contact information, or give out such information to other members.
More information here: https://www.takethislife.com/official...post392571This is for your own and your family's safety and protection.

Please do not talk about sexual issues, drugs or violence
unless you are seeking depression support.
Posting about such topics in chat is not permitted. We have members who have been sexual abused, experienced violence or are struggling with substance abuse here. Such topics can be very triggering to them. These topics may be discussed in the Challenges section in a supportive way for those who need support for depression-related issues, but otherwise, this is not a forum where members should be posting about such things for entertainment purposes. This includes posting pictures and videos, joking about it and using graphic descriptions. If your subject matter is somehow violent or sexual, describe it with the bare minimum language necessary to adequately convey your idea.

Please also note that we do not permit posts about desire or intent to harm others. We value people's safety, on and off TTL. Nobody here is equipped to address such expressions appropriately, and they are therefore prohibited.
Please respect other members and keep the forum a safe and supportive place to be by adhering to the guidelines on the forum, in chat and in PM.

If you see a post, receive a PM, or see a conversation in chat that violate the guidelines, please contact us about it by reporting the post, or making a new thread in the Contact Moderators forum.

Thank you,
Ella
