Default Turmeric for depression and other ailments!?!

Beyond therapy and medication (which I don't think has done jack shit), I've been seeking alternatives to getting back to something close to balanced.

My mom stopped by and gave me some turmeric supplements and I did some research to see what the benefits possibly are and I found this:

20 Health Benefits of Turmeric

1. It is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent, useful in disinfecting cuts and burns.
2. When combined with cauliflower, it has shown to prevent prostate cancer and stop the growth of existing prostate cancer.
3. Prevented breast cancer from spreading to the lungs in mice.
4. May prevent melanoma and cause existing melanoma cells to commit suicide.
5. Reduces the risk of childhood leukemia.
6. Is a natural liver detoxifier.
7. May prevent and slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease by removing amyloyd plaque buildup in the brain.
8. May prevent metastases from occurring in many different forms of cancer.
9. It is a potent natural anti-inflammatory that works as well as many anti-inflammatory drugs but without the side effects.
10. Has shown promise in slowing the progression of multiple sclerosis in mice.
11. Is a natural painkiller and cox-2 inhibitor.
12. May aid in fat metabolism and help in weight management.
13. Has long been used in Chinese medicine as a treatment for depression.
14. Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, it is a natural treatment for arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

It's so awesome to hear that you won't buy into the medication scam/myth! Therapy does help, but it really depends on the therapist, but nutrition/nature is very healing!

There are many beneficial effects of turmeric and other herbs/spices. Great post!

I would also recommend drinking Komboucha live enzyme...it's amazing for the body!

now I can't say I don't believe in the scam/myth - but what I have been prescibed didn't seem to work

I'd rather pursue natural, healthy alternatives and maybe in due time it will be what I need.

I mean right now - with a break up and job search stress (with a possible case of PTSD), I'm straight geekin'

honestly - it was something missing in my life for a while - quite possible a contributor to what has happened.

picked up some aromatherapy, doing research on protein rich vegetables to lower my meat intake (99.9% chicken), dropped coffee, sugar, chips/sweets - not that I was a big fan of such foods but I think I consumed enough to twist my chi.

So here I am in the early stages of healing and making an effort - some things are lacking a little (motivation for job search, picked up smoking upon discovering what I never wanted to know), but I'm enjoying my shift, I have lost weight (some stress related I'm sure), but for the most part I believe this move towards being honest with what I put in my body and how it affects my mind is going to grow.

time to transform!
