Default Smoking weed

Ive been smoking weed for 5 years now and im only 19. I bun everyday and feel like i cannot go on like this with this dirty habit anymore. Does anyone feel like marijuana plays a part in their depression and is in denial and still smokes anyways like i am? Probably because i am an addict now...

my brother is seriously depressed and has smoked weed since he was 14. He is 43 now. I would be inclined to say that weed is the reason why he is depressed more than the other way round but I have no medical proof of that. He has never lived an adult life without medicating himself with weed or alcohol and so has no idea what it is like to live without stimulants. Having said that, my blood pressure medication causes depression. So we actually live in a world where doctors synthesize depression through the medications they prescribe anyway. In the end, does it matter?

Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position.

It seems you are taking the first step in recovery by admitting that you are addicted to the pot. Now you can work on getting off of it.
I think by you starting so young that you probably have not grown emotionally in the last 5 years...I saw this happen with my own son...he started smoking pot at age 11...and up till the day he quit which was just a few months ago...he just turned 18...It is amazing how much he has matured in just a couple of months!!
You definately need to quit!! I tried with my son but he was totally out of control and it took getting locked up to get him to see the light! I'd hate to see that happen to you. He and I agree that it may have been a blessing tho because now his life is getting so much better.
I hope you decide to kick the habit if not forever then at least untill you can get your life in order...I think that it probably is keeping you depressed...but it's encouraging that you are aware of the effect smoking weed has on you.

Thanks for the replies everyone, ive been feeling the need to quit for about a year now but it feels like everything i do has been revolving around getting high. Like if i were to go out with my girl to see a movie i "need" to smoke before, or even something like going to shoot some hoops. Its also apart of me i have that stoner persona so most of my friends are only my close friends because we have bonded from smoking joints and if we dont smoke before we chill its like... not the same and something is missing.

I am proud of myself for realizing that i am an addict so i guess i already took the first step to being sober and happy. My doctor also set me up with a therapist to help with my depression but i feel like if i open up and tell him im a full time stoner he will just look past the fact i am actually depressed and just tell my dumbass to put the blunt down. thank again for the replies everyone i really appreciate it.

I am not going to lie, but if you smoke weed everyday that is just a waste and you are stupid...it is completely in your power to stop it, I mean come on weed is a medicine, if use properly it can expand things beyond your wildest imaginations...trust me man, I used to be a casual weed smoker (4 times a month) and it really opened up things...but doing it every day is ridiculous because it then loses its value, novelty and meaning...weed is a luxury that should not be abused, like it or not...I treat it as communication to the gods, not just some "party drug"

honestly weed doesnt do much good. a lot of people would say it effects people differently and htat is true, but remember.... everything is good in moderation. weed has fucked my friend up cause he has no social skills. probably the same with my older b rother. and myself even. i just smoekd weed at a party and it just fucked with my head. it sucked. i dont want to do it anymore but i got a G i gotta get rid of somehow.h
