Default Relaxation Techniques?

Does anyone know of any? And I don't mean listening to music or anything stimuli related.

See, I stopped taking one of my medications about a month and a half ago because it made me unbelievably drowsy (I would sleep for 12 hours a day!!). But as it turns out, it's used for more than just a sleep aid. Depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis - two of which I still have. =\

Since I stopped taking it, I've been doing rather poorly. I perceive things entirely the wrong way, I jump to conclusions faster (always the the most negative one, of course), every little thing is way more upsetting and irritating than it was before, and things that are normally harmless fun seem like a malicious assault (joking, playful name-calling, etc).

I don't want to start taking the medication again because I don't want to sleep all damn day, but I'm sick of being so fucking moody and pissy all the time. It's bringing everyone around me down, and that just makes me feel even worse.

So does anyone know of anyways to help me relax, clam down, and rationalize the situation? Nothing stimuli related, please; I need something that I can use no matter where I am. Thanks guys! =)

The medication was Seroquel XR, in case you were wondering.

Take in a deep breath through your nose, close your eyes and let it out slowly through your mouth while spelling r-e-l-a-x slowly in your head.

I never met you and yet I know you,
at least I know much about you.
I know you need food, shelter
and things to do to keep you sane.
And I know that especially, you need someone . . .

I can't say that I am that someone,
but I am someone . . .

This is a CBT technique where you look for evidence to back up your suspicions or feelings. I often get distraught with "I'm not coping" so I look for evidence. I look around me and my home is ok, my clothes are clean, I am clean, me and my kids eat etc etc and so I have no choice but to think "you know what, everything is doing ok". I find this extremely useful when I am unable to be rational. You can apply it to most situations - look for the evidence when you are being negative.

It's hard when you feel hyper sensitive to not take things the wrong way when people are joking around, I understand. Try not to chatsize yourself as you will feel worse, just gently tell yourself to lighten up and what's the worse that could happen? Hell, join in the banter if you can and you will feel better for it, sometimes we just have to push ourselves that little bit more.

I've found yelling loudly as possible for a prolonged period of time helps, sounds funny and like a joke but it actually works.

Thanks for the responses everyone. It means the world to me.

Turns out, I missed my morning medication that day, so it wasn't that I was missing that medication, I was completely unmedicated. <.<

Hello Friends......

1.Lie on your back, close your eyes.

2.Feel your feet. Sense their weight. Consciously relax them and sink into the bed. Start with your toes and progress to your ankles.

3.Feel your knees. Sense their weight. Consciously relax them and feel them sink into the bed.

4.Feel you upper legs and thighs. Feel their weight. Consciously relax them and feel them sink into the bed.

Thanks
