Nutrition is crucial for health. You can literally make yourself very sick by eating the wrong foods all the time. I know this first hand.

If you don't feel well, mentally, why risk your health and make things worse with bad food or bad eating habits? Improve any way you can, starting with one thing you can control — what goes into your mouth.

A healthy diet should consist of plenty of vegetables. It should not include a lot of sweets (sugar is empty calories and it hurts your immune system). It should not include lots of fats (it is bad for your heart and circulation).

Vegetables may not sound that tasty by themselves; sometimes you have to prepare them a certain way, with spices and herbs, but once you stop eating junk food you start to notice how good vegetables can be and you feel a lot better for making a good decision, on top of feeling healthy in general.

I know it is hard not to splurge on junk food when you feel bad, but you are actually making things worse. Comfort food will not solve your problems (the reasons why you are depressed). The comfort or happiness is only temporary, and you are going to pay for eating the wrong things in the long run. It's just like drugs — they don't fix anything; they just mask your symptoms and introduce new problems. But don't take my word for it, do some reading yourself.

Hi, I'm in the same frame of mine myself. I actually got a FATTY LIVER from eatting bad food. They call it Non-Alcoholic fatty liver. This happen about 10 years ago. I didn't realize I could damage my liver by eatting bad foods. Now I try hard to make sure I eat vegetables. I juice vegetables also. Around this time I went on the Atkins Diet. It's the only fad diet I really tried, well anyway, because it was Sugar Free diet, I learned everything and I mean everything I ate was Sugar. It changed my life and eatting habits till this day. Also, when I went on the Atkins Diet I felt amazingly better. I think the sugar was killing me honestly, when I was on the Atkins diet I had more energy which made me feel better.

I think most North Americans probably have some damage to their liver because of the foods we eat. Just my opinion but it's true what they say

"you are what you eat".

I still eat alot of carbs and sugars now but the difference is, I'm aware of it! I'm aware I should be eatting better, I'm aware I should be including more vegetables in my diet also. I still have good days and bad days but now I'm more aware and try alittle harder.

I'm thinking about low-carbing again this week as a diet. I think it's good to get the sugar out of our system and also I get to concentrate more on vegetables and protein.

I also like to get my Vitamins from vegetables and fruits, it's more natural.

Trying to make myself drink at least 1 glass of milk + Juice a day. As well as trying to get 3 regular meals rather then just the 1 I usually have. Its difficult to say the least.

I know I have to eat plenty of protein to build muscle, and possibly more fish for certain oils that are good for the body (including vitamins) but any other recommendations?

You'll need to up your carbs for the energy too tigers. Vegetables too. Leafy green vegetables. You cant process the proteins without the nitrogen from those.

It is worrying although I still need to lose weight I would rather stay healthy while I did it, I have lost over two stone but there will become a time when I will no longer have the weight to lose. People are really noticing now that I have lost weight and they wonder what diet I am on. The truth is I am not dieting, just not eating anywhere near is much as I should and if I get really stressed I can stop eating altogether. I also have an intolerance to milk so I use a lot of soya products. I love drinking tea and finds that helps when I start feeling out of it, and that has plenty of soya milk in it. Putting food in the liquidiser helps and turning into a soup helps too but there are days when even this is too much for me and the only thing I can drink is lemon and ginger herbal tea as this is the only thing I can keep down. If I drink water I will bring it up again.

You really need to try to consistantly force it. If you let yourself stop then your stomach will shrink(yada yada) and you will physically be unable to eat as much. Crackers? I usually eat a lot of salad foods to get an appetite back after i stop eating. And i can usally force a piece of bread if i eat it slow enough with enough liquid
