First thing is first - It's suppose to be comfortable for the meditatee.
(Did that make sense.. meditatee? lol.)
Anyways, You don't have to sit cross-legged. As long as it's comfortable, you can sit against the wall on your bed, or lay down in your bed, or up on your couch, or lay on the floor.
Second, your hands hand to be completely calm and rested. It's like resting your jaw when you sleep. Your hands must not be twitching or moving around.
A good tip for keeping your hands rested is to set them somewhere on your legs, but on the opposite leg - Right hand on left calf, left hand on right calf, OR right hand on left thigh, left hand on right thigh..
Third and the MOST important----
In order to meditate properly, you must breathe like this:
Breathe normally for about a minute, then start this,
-Inhale for a count of 4, it can just be 1,2,3,4 and then
-Hold the inhale for a count of 2, can just be 1,2, and then
-Exhale for a count of 4, just 1,2,3,4
-Hold the exhale for a count of 2, can be 1,2,
This is what is known as the 4:2 breathing method
Don't underestimate the breathing method
After you do the inhale, exhale set for about 15-20 times which will only last you about 5 minutes as long as you take your time (important).. this is about relaxing
AFter 5 minutes, you will start to, how do i say... your eyes will just "shift" and you will just become into the blackness behind your eyes. It's a very calm and relaxed feeling.. and you will want to do it again.
Remember, ask me any questions!
