Ok I was raised Catholic, and I was a very testosterone laden young teenager, so yep I did it all the time. Now at the age of 42, and alone for the first time in my life, I find myself doing it more these days!

Anyway...I know all about the moral issue. But it's funny, no where in the Bible does it say that masturbation is wrong or sinful. (at least that's what I have heard). The Church considers it sinful, but not so much in the Big Book. Of course lust, you know coveting the old neighors wife thing, that's bad....but I guess if you masturbate to relieve pressure and stress, and not be thinking about that hot babe you just saw, then I dont think religiously it's a sin.

enough of that talk. It's natural, it's normal, and it's healthy!

This sounds stupid (it might help you FPS) but I actually believe masturbation reduces my blood pressure - temporarily of course - so I have to keep doing it as it is not an absolute cure (lol) What I mean is, I feel like my blood pressure goes down - or maybe it doesn't and I just think does and its just a placebo effect - which means it actually does coz I believe it has anyway even though I didn't take a blue pill....but a white one for my blood pressure that morning and and and Omg! my blood pressure just went down again!

LOL. I worry that it increases my blood pressure as blood has to flow into a certain area for certain things to happen!

I don't understand the concept of masochism in masturbation. I shudder at self-inflicted self-harm, guilt, humiliation and pain.

How is it that at a sexual level, we take the attitude of 'whatever turns you on' but on other levels, we recommend people get help to deal with these feelings?

I'm confused and wary.

Well I can't feel when I masturbate. To me even gentle masturbation is masochistic because I feel so much animosity towards sex in general, and psychologically in my mind...but when I do turn up the volume, I am extremely angry or feel extremely numb, and just want to feel nothing. Sex for me is painful, intercourse is painful, therefore any kind of intercourse is masochism to me. Sticking something up my vagina and moving the object back and fourth is painful, to me it's like cutting yourself from the inside.

When you can't feel all you want to do is to feel something, and the harder you try the harder you keep going...and then you feel something and it's like...I am alive.

Anyway I don't get off from masturbation or any thing, but I do understand that there are people myself included out there where sex isn't enjoyable and sometimes but they do it as a learned behaviour, self soothing, etc, and that it's no different in some of these cases than taking a knife and slicing a wrist, and sometimes It's used in substitution...and you temporarily get high, for some people it's the only way to get an orgasm and sometimes that doesn't even work. Like drugs, like cutting, etc.

I guess I view it as SI, another form of self infliction, but in general there's a lot about it all over the net, even a website dedicated to explaining stuff like that.

This might say it better than I can: Self-injury - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I didn't understand your second paragraph only because I don't understand what you were talking about, since I don't really get turned on by much of anything and was confused if it was aimed towards the masochism in masturbation *thinks thoughtfully*, so I couldn't really reply to it if that's ok? Otherwise *smirks* me too! I'm wary too but of these evil chickens we have in our backyard that i have to feed...grr...

Well I can't feel when I masturbate on the average level, I have to turn up the volume. And I don't enjoy it anyway but when the desire hits it's compulsory. Yeah it is like SI pretty much, but w.e. :P.

For me 'sex' is what I did with my rapists and molesters. Affection, love, gentle tender loving care, cuddling is what I do with my wife. But anything involving penetration is re-enacting my sexual abuse memories. Hence masochistic. Hope that makes more sense.
