Default Light boxes

Its that time of year i hate. The dark nights and the dark days when it starts going dark at 3 pm. You are lucky if you see any sun for a week sometimes. I would love to be able to hibernate and wak up again in March.

I know its SAD but i was wondering if i should try a light box.

Has anybody tried a light box and if so how did they find it?

I envy you for this because where I live it is hot almost all the year and I can't feel the cold except in late December and January.we can swap places :)

I don't know what a light box is. Is it like a tanning bed? When I lived where there is a long period of darkness in the winter each year, I used full spectrum lights in my apartment and that was helpful, but it was many years ago. When I lived somewhere recently that was just plain gloomy for most of the year, I did try out using a tanning salon for the same reason. The tanning bed seemed to work at least somewhat. I felt better then I'm afraid I otherwise might have when I tried it. I wasn't there for years to make a comparison, though, so it was a limited experiment.

I don't think it's like a tanning bed. This Seasonal affective disorder treatment: Choosing a light box - MayoClinic.com describes how to choose a light box, especially on page 2 of the article. It looks like they sell them on Amazon. But maybe you could ask your doctor for a recommendation of what kind to get, and where.

Yep, here there is a lot of sun , but in winter around 6 pm is dark... I really love the suny days, but shouldn't depend on that to feel good.

Sunshine makes almost everyone feel better. How can you stay feeling miserable in the bright warm sun? Even if you still feel kind of miserable, it does help nearly everyone. A light box does sound like a good idea- I've never tried one of them but it looks good. (Thanks for the link.) Sun or simulated sun is important in our lives; I'd say at worst it just won't help enough. Give it a try! It can't hurt.
