I just finished reading all of them. They were interesting and a lot of how my mind thinks. I definitely know that the negative thoughts are involuntary and I don't notice them a lot. When I went to therapy at school, I noticed them more because I was saying it. I would stop and smile because I recognized them and she would always cut me off to tell me. If I said something good, I always had to say 'but' and come up with a reason why it's not good or the good thing didn't really count.

Good - your therapist was doing this with you also. Try to be more aware of your thoughts and just notice them. When they are positive, think the positive thing and then STOP before you can say, "but...". Try to practice tomorrow.

Write some things down from what you read today if you want, to help reinforce it in your mind.

This article goes with the one from yesterday as another approach to dealing with negative thoughts. Remember to practice these techniques today and tomorrow. Write down how you think it's going, or anything you want to write about it. Read this one either today or tomorrow - up to you. No more reading after this one until Wednesday.

Are you writing these short term goals in your book and checking them off when they're done? Do you like doing that - does it make you feel like you accomplished something? It should.... because you have!

Okay. I'll try to read it today. I just got back from work and am exhausted. I think I'm going to try and go to sleep really early.

I am going to write these things down. I didn't want to start and give up and waste the journal, so I just was keeping track in my head, but I'm going to write everything down from before and from now on. Plus I need to find a good pen/marker because my writing is so much better with one of those. I can't stand my hand writing even though people say it's so neat. I wish I could write more cursive-ish with style than have it look like it was typed on a computer.

Idk why, but I feel kind of upset now. I'm doing that thing where I think too far ahead and am getting overwhelmed and I don't know how not to do that. I think it might be guilt because I'm doing bad things to myself.

Should I put anything in the journal from before I started this thread?

You can start the journal from whenever you like. Starting this thread was a goal, so you can put it down and cross it off - start there?

If you can't read the article today, tomorrow is fine. No pressure, okay? You were busy today, and getting to bed early is important.

I think the next article can help you with your thoughts. Maybe when you think too far ahead, you can tell yourself something like, "I'm thinking too far ahead. I'm not up to that yet. All I can control is today". You'll see more ideas in the article for responding to those thoughts. Don't just listen to them - respond back! Takes lots of practice, and then it will become a habit.

Progress is hardly ever in a straight line. It's okay to wobble a little - you'll get your balance back again.

I will try to read it today. I am very tired and will probably go to bed soon. I think I've made myself upset. I did some bad things. I feel like I should make a list of all the things I do that don't help me. Why do you think I'm hesitant to write in the journal?

Not sure if that's a rhetorical question or if you're asking me my opinion. Are you hesitant?

Goals should be worded positively, so for instance - instead of "Stop self injurious behavior", it would say "Demonstrate positive ways of coping". You can make some goals realated to that if you want. Keep it positive so you won't trigger you to read certain things.
