I read all 9. I'm assuming you meant the bold titled things since there were 9 of them. They were short and interesting, so I just did the 9. But I'm going to stop and let it sink in. I kind of want to read something else, but I don't want to feel overwhelmed like I was going through the whole site when you first mentioned it.

Exactly! Great job 20 :)

Think about what you read, and write down some key points that you want to remind yourself of.

I'll post tomorrow's article in the morning so you won't feel temped to look at it now.

I like the multi-sensory approach also - using different senses. I do this myself when reading or studying. I read with a highlighter, pen, or something to mark with (not on the computer though); I take notes; and I say the important things out loud and sometimes repeat them. So instead of just reading with my eyes (visual sense), I am also writing (movement), speaking, and hearing what I am saying out loud. Reading and listening are receptive communication, and writing and speaking are expressive communication. Use all of it. This way, the brain absorbs the same information in several different ways, instead of just one. I understand what I read better, and learn faster and better this way, as do a lot of people.

Yeah, when I'm studying and going over things the night before a test, I read it out loud softly. I tend to get bored and daydream when reading, so that keeps me focused.

I don't like to use highlighters though...when I do, I just highlight way too much to where it's useless.

I forgot to say what else I learned though in the pm.

I never really thought about that it's okay to not focus 100% of the time and that I can take a break from it. I'm kind of an all or none person with this type of thing which I guess is my brain's way of making me fail no matter what. I remember going over with my therapist about cutting. I told her something like, I didn't cut for 6 days, but I cut 7 times on the 7th day, so the whole week was pointless. And I said I maybe would have just cut one time each day and have cut the same amount of times, but I saw both ways as failing.

The one thing I noticed is that they talked about the reward thing a lot. But I'm still having trouble with a reward. I thought about things like posting here as a reward, but I also need to post here and talk to help me complete the tasks. It's like the things that I feel would work if I restricted them are the same things that I need to get through this.

Challenging Negative Thoughts | www.succeedsocially.com

This has 7 sections (yes, the paragraphs separated by the bold headings) and a lot of information. Read the first 5 and think about what it said / write it down. Then see how you feel about reading the last 2 - if you want to do it today or tomorrow.

The first 5 sections tell about negative thoughts, and the last 2 tell about how to challenge them. They give you exercises to practice.

Again - don't worry about the linked articles. Focus on this one for now.

Okay, I'll read them a little later. I just got back from work and want to try to exercise and shower, plus I'm already so tired...

I have a small goal today: Get dressed and take my dead pet bird out to the woods to bury or just lay in the growth.

Then go do laundry.

Maybe I'll go visit my brother's grave too.

I'm very sorry about your brother and your bird.

I accomplished a more private goal that I'm thrilled about. It definitely kept me from feeling bad and I'm more than happy with it's outcome. And I think it was a big step in changing my brain's control. It was a risky goal and my head kept telling me not to try because if gone wrong, it could have been devastating. But it went great. And maybe it's the little light that may help me begin to find some positive self-esteem.

Now just to read those articles.
