I would like to remind you of the guidelines about encouraging suicide. They state:
B) No encouraging other members to harm themselves
- 1) No explicit endorsement of another member's suicide
- 2) No implied endorsement of another member's suicide
- 3) No pro-suicide discussions, such as arguing that suicide should be legal or is otherwise a person's right. This is counter productive to the goals of this community and therefore may not be posted.
Do NOT encourage suicide by agreeing with someone that everything is hopeless and that killing themselves is a valid option. It is not supportive or helpful to agree with someone that things can never get better or post other negative comments their thread.
Doing so can reinforce the members negative view of the world and their situation, which could make them feel worse and even encourage suicide.
Post about your own issues in your own thread.
You can mention to other members that you can relate to them, but please do not go into long descriptions of your own issues and why you think everything is terrible as well. In addition to bringing the thread off topic, posting about your issues in other members threads can make them feel like you are comparing yourself to them and minimizing their issues. This can make them feel bad.
You can talk about your own suicidal thoughts in your own thread, but do NOT implicitly or explicitly encourage suicide by posting that it is the preferable, admirable or accepted choice
. For this reason, posting general discussion threads about suicide is also not permitted.
If you see any posts that encourage suicide or in other ways are violating the guidelines, please report them to us so that we can have a look at them. We appreciate your help in keeping TTL a supportive place to be. A place that hopefully can help prevent suicide - instead of encouraging it.
