Default Advice - I don't want to drink anymore

So I want to stop drinking, right now.
I have been drinking non-stop for 7years because it makes my feel more confident. But I know it has also ruined my life.
I had my last beer last night but I know later on my brain will tell me "go on go buy 1 more it won't hurt", then once I do that I will end up buying 5-6....

Any tips on how to get past this, I just don't think I have any willpower.

Hi mmch85-

That was exactly how i felt when I KNEW i HAD TO Stop drinking- for the same reasons you have put/ confidence etc.

My advice is to ring A.A. -BOOK AN appointment with the doctor - if u feel necessary and dont buy the booze. Many people on here are recovering alcoholics so you are not alone - one day at a time.... try to get yourself to an
A.A. meeting dear - you will be around others who are trying to give up.
(((((hugs))))))

Thanks for the reply.
What can doctors do for you? Is there any substitutes? A beer patch, or vodka gum :-)

Yeah I've had to recently move back to my mums and was thinking I could use the change of scenery to get sober. Although I think it was my mums fault I don't have much confidence in the first place....

I'm also going to go to counceling as I'm a really angry person. That n alcohol doesn't mix

Hugs to you too

Take all the advice you can get. And read The Easy Way to Control Alcohol by Alan Carr. I read it and stopped drinking over a year ago, no problem.

For one thing, doctors can run tests to see what the effects of alcohol has done to your body. I found out that my kidneys were operating at 45% efficiency, and I needed to quit drinking immediately.

I used to give a friend my wallet so I'd have no money to buy booze.

Quitting is a bitch but it can be done.
