I'm scared to switch to windows 7... I know there's gonna be software I use that won't be compatible... How compatible is Windows 7 anyway?

I think you should hope for Win7. What software do you use that you're worried about? If you're really scared of Win7 then go to XP or a *nix distro, I really can't stand Vista lol.

XP or Vista is fine by me, its all my bootlegging and sound editing software, dunno if dvdsanta would work on it, also old ass paint shop pro 7. Lol I'm scared to advance, when Vista came out I was horrified at first lol... Its still not the best OS but I got it to do what I needed lol

People will always come up with workarounds for dvd ripping and stuff like that. Not sure how old paint shop pro 7 is, it should work in theory though. Unless it's so old that it's 16-bit.

I have Vista on my laptop, and I really like it. I know a lot of people have issues with it - like issues with it crashing - but it works well for me. It works very well for me. Of course, I don't have a lot of the programs that others do. I just have an internet browser and that's pretty much it. So I'm not sure how well it would work with you, Venom. I just know from experience that it works well.

I have a friend with Windows 7, and as far as I know it works for him. Of course, he also doesn't have a lot of the programs you do. He doesn't have any bootlegging stuff... so, I don't know.

My brother in law beta tested 7 and he loves it. He says it's got all the features of vista without being a resource hog. He actually downgraded from vista to xp because he was sick of vista even though he said it technically works.

I use xp because I don't think my computer could handle vista and xp's compatible with a lot of things including older video games.

You'd probably have to actually do some serious research to find out if you're stuff is compatible with 7. I mean like software forums and stuff like that.

Yea, Vista works good but is sucks on the memory hard. I think I'll just downgrade if I get one with 7, I've got the programs I like for audio and video conversion and bootlegging paint shop pro (its 32 bit its windows 2000 era technology that I like particularly because it still works better than newer image creation/rendering software still... Kinda like AIM 4.6 where you can set up a get file, just some cool features.) Everything I got works great for me so I'm just gonna stay back lol, wait til another windows comes out lol. I don't like figuring new shit out I'd give it a try tho and if it worked I'd keep it. I actually need a dual boot, I have an old sound editing program I use to chop and slow music with that only works below XP

Vista is horrible >.<..7 is rather good, although if you cant use your software with it, wont be for you..ALTHOUGH..>.>...there is always an answer with comps to save your stuff ^-^ and get new cracked versions
