I love computers, they are my whole life. Every day when I wake up I go on Tomshardware.com and fudzilla.com and check all today's computer news. It provides a very nice distraction from my life, which isnt that great right now. It helps me because I know that im good at something. I just recently started building computers and I get immense satisfaction after the job is done and everything is working good.

Just finished a build for my brother, mainly for web surfing, school work, and gaming. Budget wasnt that high, about $600 so i couldnt afford a beast i7 or anything but I think I did pretty good for what I had to work with. Heres the stats if anyones interested.

I find it interesting to open one up, but installing a second hard drive is about my limit. *shrug*

I learned all my tech knowledge in the matter of about 1 year. Last Christmas I decided I wanted to upgrade my video card and then I started reading stuff and looking at forums and I've been crazy ever since. Im more into the hardware of computers than software and programing, I just really like to tinker around and build. I really want to get a career in it but im not sure what kind of jobs are out there.

Nice, that is a pretty sweet set up for that price.

Here are my specs, at the time it was made it was practically top of the line. Outdated now though.

Intel Core i7 940 @ 2.93ghz
140GB Raptor
1TB Seagate Barracuda
12GB DDR3 Corsair ram
Asus p6t Deluxe
nvidia geforce GTX 295

I opted for the 940 rather then the 965 because I saved $1000 by getting the 940. I benched my comp on 3dmark and scored 19500.

Deafening Silence

I tried running Ubuntu a while back but I couldn't find any replacements for some of my Windows apps and so I reverted back. Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on a system I built last winter and all is good for the time being ;) I might have another try at Linux sometime in the near future though. Any recommendations on what distro to go for?

I'm hoping to build a new system soon, my current set up is alright, it was mid-high range about 2 years ago. It can play every game at full framerate so I'm happy for now.

You guys got a way better setup than I do currently, and I dont see me upgrading any time soon either since im completely broke with no income. I seriously really dislike my current setup:

Its so outdated and old, its always slowing down even though I have next to nothing on it except for 1 or 2 steam games. Sometimes I just want to throw it out the window.
