Default Ghost stories.

Like my other post ( Old Wives Tales ), ghost stories and the paranormal are like a hobby to me. I try and gather as much on the subject as I can. And since I got into the Folklore course it keeps me busy most nights when I am bored.

I was wondering if anybody here on TTL believe in the paranormal? Or has any personal ghost stories to share?

I live in the oldest part of Dublin, Ireland. Called The Liberties. There is so much history here that I know I won't have any room to write it all down lol. Anyway there is hundreds if not thousands of ghost stories connected to the area and surrounding areas.

I don't know if I class myself as a believer as such, even though I have a few experiences.

The one that really freaked me out was the night when my granny died. She had cancer and there was nothing that the doctors could do. She was 87. She had 14 kids and numerous of grand kids and great grand kids. She worked for the govern, and lived a very full live. Her husband, my grandad died 40 years before her, and she never re married. She was a very devoted Catholic, even though when two of her kids died and she herself got sick, I think her faith went a bit. Anyway the night she died, some of the grand kids where up in the room with her, we wanted to spend as much time as possible with her. My auntie Catherine who is the youngest of her children came up with a drink of water for her. When she went over my granny went very quite. It was as if she was listening to someone. After a few seconds past my auntie asked her what was wrong and my granny said to her: " Go and get your fathers cap, hes waiting for me" My granny had my grandads cap on the hook in the hall ever since he died. My auntie didn't know what to make of it, but went down to get it anyway. When she came back up my granny told her to leave it at the end of the bed that she had to go with grandad now. That night my granny died.

Now it is widely believed in Ireland, and I'm sure in other culturals that someone comes to collect the person to bring them to the other side.

Well TTL that's my story how about you?

I'm very much into the paranormal stuff, I've always been that way. I just have an odd fascination about the supernatural. But...I can't say I believe in any of it. I've never had such an experiences myself and there's just not enough evidence to support any of the stories I've heard/read about. Wish I had an less boring reply, but I felt the need to chip in nevertheless. :p

What an amazing story louise! I also have a great interest in the paranormal, and falling asleep listening to Coast to Coast every night (Home - Coast to Coast AM) gives me some pretty strange dreams. But what really happened to me was:

Just before my grandmother died in hospital, she smiled at everyone who gathered around her and said, "I'm going to have supper with the Lord." It was very touching and emotional for all of us.

Just before my mom died, my watch stopped. It's an expensive watch that never stopped before or since.

About a week after my mom died, we were talking about her at my sister's house. My sister had two large wooden spoons hung on her wall that used to belong to my mom, and they fell at that exact time. It was as if she wanted to say, 'don't worry about me, I'm fine'

I've got both an interest and belief in the paranormal. Well, I tend to hang out with werewolves vampires and fey so I guess belief is kind of a given for me.

One of my favourite personal experiences with it? Well this one technically didn't involve ghosts but it'll do. One night in a dream I was out in the woods, looking around. Spotted one of my friends who also believes in paranormal stuff, and he noticed me too. Then the dream went on with its business to other subjects.

The next day he commented "Hey I saw you in the woods in my dream last night."

I have few stories that I have heard from my dad.

When he was younger he did a weegie board and a big plant of wood fell down and almost knock out all of the people there, they ran out screaming.Bad luck for my dad he forgot his P.E kit and had go back to the shed to get it.

We have this path way that use to be railroad tracks, my dad was walking down there one night with his brother and they saw A man with a lantern, believed to be the man who would keep an eye on the tracks or something like that.

And there old house use to be haunted where they lived when they were young.A little girl use to watch them sleep at the end of their bed and even pushed there dresser draws up to the door so they couldn't get out.

My dad must have been a ghost magnet or something lol

i most definitely believe there is something! having quite a few things happen to me! what happened when my gran died jumps to my mind, my mum says she was quite delirious near the end, but she kept on asking why there was soldiers and babys in the room? and asking over and over cant you see them? my mum didnt think much of it at the time as she thought she was just having illusions.
but then when she passed and we had the funeral, my gran was buried right in-between a young soldier and a 6mth old baby which i find really eerie every time i go to put flowers on i look at them graves and wonder if my gran actually saw them!

I used to go out with a girl, her brother claimed to be one of a few select people from around the world that could talk to spirits. I didnt belive him for ages.....
Then one day i had an accident at work and almost chopped the end of my thumb off. I just wrapped it up and got back on with work, i didnt tell anyone, about an hour later i get a call from my girl and she says that her brother called her to ask her to ring me and say "You need to go to hospital, your tetnus jab is overdue by 4 years"

WTF!!!!!, he was right. I asked him how he knew that, he just replied, i like to have spirits looking over the people i care about.....
