Default Guitar tuning help????

Hi I am trying to learn guitar. I am having trouble tuning with the tuner. I Know it goes EADGBE. But say for the first E I get a number beside the letter.E1 and then like A2 and D4 etc etc. I can't get the tuner or guitar just to make just a letter appear. The guitar is still alittle off. Any tips?

If you're better at tuning by ear, look here.
YouTube - Tuning Guitar(Standard Tuning and for both Aco. and Ele.
OR
YouTube - Guitar Tuner Standard Guitar Tuning E A D G B E Tune A Guitar Online
Good Luck!
You could also look up guitar tuning on youtube for more.

Yeah I'm a newbie so doing it by ear will drive me crazy. I just need to know if the letters can have a number beside them or not. ie E1 D2 etc?

I don't think I have seen a tuner like the one you are using.

Mine has a meter that is very easy to use.

I would suggest taking the guitar and tuner to a music store and I'm sure they would be happy to show you how to do it.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

Also, I use non-standard tuning on some of my music that makes things very interesting when it comes to tuning.

Well, if you have the E1 string good, you can tune the rest by ear from there.

When you press your finger between the 4th and 5th fret (normally there's a single dot on the top of the neck, so in the 5th "box", you hear the note the next string will need to sound like. Only from the 4th to the 5th string, you need to place your finger in the 4th box...

Sorry I can't help you any more, my tuner gives me the letters only, without the numbers... But if you only look at the letters that your tuner gives you, you can check it by doing what I just wrote about...

Good luck and yes, otherwise, get your guitar and tuner to the store and they'll help you out!

I'll keep trying.I have nothing else to do.

I'd say get a new tuner. Go with a Korg, it's amazing. It will also tune you to drop D, drop C, a half-step down, anything possible.
