Default Robin Williams R.I.P.

The news reports this evening say it was suicide, that he suffered from depression and lately it had been severe. He'd also had health problems and alcoholism.

I didnt really know of his problems - but it's not surprising to me. So many sucessful people have commited suicide. Now a great actor and comic has apparently taken his life.

You might think fame and fortune would cure your depression, but perhaps thats not the case for all who seek it.

If anyone could understand the struggle Robin faced, we should, as many of us live it every day.

He was a natural. I just got up, didn't know it until I read it here. Now looking at the web. Nobody will replace him.

Nobody can be replaced but only succeeded.

Saddens me that with his money and fame, one would think he could have had easier access to help. And what makes me even sadder is that he didn`t have someone there to help him laugh again.

I am still in shock. I really liked him in `Dead Poets Society`. I felt that he found a great balance between being hilarious and being serious.

Sorry folks, I don`t know what else to say here except that I hope and pray he can at least find the peace he needed badly and that his loved ones will have their privacy respected during this time.

He had bipolar. I had a friend who was bipolar kill himself at around age 18-19. It is a real severe type of depression associated with that condition.

It was a shocked to me to hear about Robin for his sudden death. I don't know whether I will watch any of his movies after this. I still cannot watch any of Paul Walker's till today, it affected me deeply. Watching movies is my main escapism besides my job.

I'll never forget his role in "The Birdcage" Nobody could've fit that part better.

I hope if any good comes out this that there is an examination of attitudes about depression and bipolar and the stigma we all face that deepens our sense of isolation from the world. If anyone had reason not to feel isolated it was Robin Williams. This sad event shows the power and the universality of despair and its ability to trump even the most seemingly connected of people. We on here don't judge each other and our ability to empathize with what each other is going through is what encourages us to come here for support. Society does not provide that support--in fact it shuns us and regards our suffering as invented or not real--and that needs to change. As we painfully know.
