Vivaldi, La Cetra: Concerto Op 9 No 9 in B flat major RV 530 - YouTube

I know it's a bit baroquey, but the 2nd (or is it the 3rd) movement's just beautiful.

Default Jaroussky

Wonderful stuff !!! Thank you for that.

I am a great baroque afficionado ( and before that,I adore eg Ockeghem ) and one of my favorite singers is the French countertenor Philippe Jaroussky, here with a Vivaldi Aria.
The re-discovery of Vivaldi as a high quality opera composer is one of the highlights in baroque "musical discoveries" in recent years.

Wow, absolutely amazing voice. There's something absolutely breath taking about counter tenors, I reckon. I saw Serse by Handel a few years ago- it was just brilliant. Here's a bit (not from that production):

Handel's Xerxes - Troppo oltraggi la mia fede - YouTube

I went to this around the same time too- more amazingness :=]

Mahler's 8th- "Symphony of a Thousand"- the Finale - YouTube

Mahler.....Great clip !
I am a total addict to it. If you want to see the whole Nr. 8 in a great you tube video go for Maris Janssons and the Bavarian Symphony Orchestra.
The best cycles still are ( on DVD ) : Bernstein and the VPO,
and more recently ( available on Blue Ray ) Abbado and the Lucerne Festival
Orchestra.
I heard Nr.8 only once live: Frankfurt Radio Orchestras and Inbal.
Unforgettable and mind blowing.
Nr.9 is still my favorite in its finality and fading out of the last mvt.,see the posts in the other blog ( Depressing music ) where Bernstein explains a bit the ending of it.

Also...

This is one of the most inspiring clips I have even seen...

Christopher Maloney's audition - Bette Midler's The Rose - The X Factor UK 2012 - YouTube

Watch the whole thing...and imagine if he did not have the courage to try.
