My progress in learning more ASL has been slow, so I've created a sort of 'goals worksheet' for myself which I plan to fill out each week (I got the idea from the comedian Demetri Martin). It's meant to track all of my goals, not just learning ASL.
I give myself a 'score' every Sunday night based on the number of things I did in each category.
Here is a rough version of the worksheet (it's still pretty disorganized in terms of categories, and I'll probably change it around later, but for now it's better than nothing).
Quote:
SOCIAL
Work:
-chat with at least one person in the lunch room
-chat with the kitchen staff
-greet everyone you see in the morning
Home:
-talk to roommate about life
-socialize (outside of work)
-skype with old friends
HELPING
- help anyone you can on skype, internet forums etc
-work: stay until everyone else is finished
PERSONAL
Learning:
-read an improvement article or part of a book
-vocabulary (learn at least one new word a week)
-read a psych article or watch a psych documentary
-improve/learn leadership skills
-watch an ASL lecture
Mindfulness:
-ten minutes daily, hour long once a week
Health:
-moderately hard work out 3 times a week, smaller workouts daily or every other if rest day is needed
-diet, learn and/or try new recipe
-eat more vegetables
Variety:
-one microadventure a week (go somewhere in town just for the hell of it)

I'll be honest, I'm probably not going to be giving myself anywhere near perfect scores on any week (there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day for me to get everything done in just one week, but I'll try anyway). However, it's still worth having lots of goals to reach for, and it's good to be able to have a way of measuring progress toward those goals. I encourage you to write up something similar to this, and work toward your own goals. This is just meant to be a sample that you can work off of. Try it out, what's the worst that could happen?
