Just got home from my Forklift Class. What a long friggin day. I survived my class and passed my course both the written and driving part. I was terrified of the driving part but it wasn't so bad. Had to drive around some cones and pick up a pallet of tires and then drive back wards around the cones. I did it! I didn't think I could do it in the beginning, looked so overwhelming because of all the levers. But it wasn't so bad. Out of about 16 people I was one of 2 girls. Not bad. So happy, right now.

What a feeling!

I also had my friend W with me and it was kind of fun to do it together. We helped each other out so much, we had a fun day and we both got a certificate, hopefully in the mail next week.

I'm so glad you had a good day too at your intake, it sounds so positive and it looks like they think of everything. Just makes job hunting so much easier and pleasant. Hope things work out for you. I might start job hunting tomorrow.

Got to get some sleep for now. Let me know how things go.

Well, I updated my resume earlier today and added the Forklift Certificate on there. I printed one off and was about to apply for a job at a temp agency, I think it might have been already gone because it was 2 days old. Then I was going to go down to another temp agency and see what they were about too. But worked called me for overtime and since I needed the money I went in and put everything on the back burner for now.

Just a hard decision for me sometimes. I will have to take a drop in pay to go and that hurts big time. The 2nd temp agency I wanted to go to is abit scary to me and in a bad part of town. But I might get paid that day type of thing. I like that and have never heard of that kind of work.

The other temp agency had a Forklift position paying good money but I didn't get down to it.

I'm still thinking of the best way to do this. Either I get a 2nd job to pay all my debts off for awhile or do a complete switch. IDK.

I'm thinking.

Let us know how your next meeting goes on Monday!

I find this forklift operation skill very impressive. Really, more women should go and learn to operate giant machinery like this, I think it would be good for anyone's morale.

Thanks! It might open a few doors for me. IDK, if it's something I like to do but sometimes I think it would be cool to do, wait and see. I've seen a few jobs in the paper, wait and see. I'll let you guys know if I decide to do a career change or not and get into driving a forklift as a job.

Actually, that's why I came here today, I got my Forklift Certificate in the mail and my wallet card too, I just got wallet card laminated. Funny I'm over 40 years old and still going to school and learning. It was fun and cool to do and I'm glad I had a guy friend who came and did the test with me, gave me some confidence.

IDK, what to do right now abit confused! They called me in for overtime today and I'm going to go in. I need the $$. But I'll be too tired to job hunt. Little fearful of getting a forklift job, can I do it? will I like it? the pay is less also right now and right now I can't afford a drop in pay. Just confused. There are days I like my job and days I don't. Some days I really want to get out of here though. I'd love to work a day or afternoon shift and work with happy people again. IDK.

I might look for a job today too. Just incase. I found one forklift job with less pay and further distance to drive. but it might work for me. wiat and see. I have to get toner for my computer though to print off the job.
Just waffling right now. That's it. I'm on the fence. I do walk around my workplace here and I have this feeling I'm not going to be here anymore and that I'm moving on. There is some excitement there.

SensualGirl, how are you doing?

Hi TooMuch,

I was sick for a while so sorry for the delay. I'm better now.

I went to intake, it went well. They give you rides to job fairs and interviews, they have suits, they look over your resume/cover letter, etc. So here's hoping it's worth the trips. Without it I'd be pretty much lost.

The next meeting with them is on Tuesday @ 230. I'm supposed to see them six hours a month. They're really far so I hope it's worth the trip. Wish me luck.

How are things with you?

SG

Yeah, still thinking of job hunting. Too Busy with overtime at work. Can't figure out if I should go look for a full-time job or part time. Lately I've been leaning on part time and pay down my credit card debts as my first option. Then once that's done I can work anywhere. wait and see.

SensualGirl, anything new?

Hi TooMuch,

My second meeting with the job program is tomorrow (Tues) at 230 pm. I can't wait to see what they have in store for me.

I sent them my resume and cover letter and a listing for a place where I want to work. This listing is for a company looking for an Admin. Asst. and will pay 35-40K after the temporary period. There's also room for mobility to other positions within the company, like Marketing Director or something. It was on Craig's List and it didn't say the name of the company so I hope it wasn't a scam. I'll ask my job coach. I'll also ask them how long it will probably take for me to find a job through their program. I'm so eager to start making money.

Hi Too Much,

I met with the job coach today. It was pretty productive. We:

-Made a list of jobs I would want, employers I would want, employers I wouldn't want and jobs I wouldn't want to work for
-Submitted my resume/cover letter for his review, to be emailed to me by tomorrow (Wednesday)
-Identified about 10 listings to apply for (mostly administrative, some writing and editing)
-Set a deadline to apply to those 10 listings of next Tuesday

I was going to get a menial job in the meantime like waitressing so I can have quick cash, but he said they probably wouldn't be able to work with me if I'm already employed. So looks like I'm banking on an office job. That's fine, at least that takes the pressure off.

How are things with you?
