Hi TooMuch,

Here's the job hunting accountability thread as suggested.

I'm looking for jobs where I can work alone and I've already found several data entry positions so I'm stoked! Data entry is notorious for being a job where you can work alone.

Stripping is the fallback so let's get going!

What types of jobs are you looking for?

I think we should apply to at least 10 a day.

I use to do data entry and you do work alone. It can be great that way. I'm looking for a labourer type position. I've applied for two positions so far. Here's hoping.

My current job is a fall back.

what's data entry like? is it interesting? how's the pay?

laborer type job like for example what?

also do you think it's advisable to wait until after jan 1 to start looking since many places are closed for the year?

I don't think many people are hiring throught the Christmas season. I think January might be a good start. So many places especially the offices have time off or extra time off right now. So I would still look and apply but feel best in January. I might go apply this week at a temp agency, I saw a labour job I liked so I might go in on Dec 27 but other than that waiting till January for the rest.

I think I might go hard in January.

I want to work more in a warehouse or something but not outside but not sure about doing what, I'm new to this type of work also.

As for data entry, it can be quite nice. I like to work on my own too and it is great that way. Like you are your own boss. I find office work doesn't pay all that great. IDK why? But give it a try. Once in awhile you will find a place that does pay well. What I found for myself though, is I like to work alone but I like to do something physical and move around. So, I'm looking for something like that.

I really hope you can get an office job. I also worked in a call center where people call in an order pizza and that was great work too, just you and your customers. You might want to look at call centers also. You have a combination of customer service and data entry.

You won't know until you try, so give it a try to see if this is what you want to do.

I would keep your eyes open for now but really feel with the holiday season January will be the best time to look but if I see something great right now, I'm going for it.

I can't believe after looking and looking for months, I finally found two types of jobs for people who like working alone.

Since you like being outside? and moving around, you could look for canvassing jobs for non-profits. Just go to the non-profit section of Craigslist and look at the ones that say "make 9-14 dollars an hour fighting for the environment" or something of the sort. They often have asterisk: **. But it's a job for people who are good at solicitation and enjoy meeting new people. You said you were looking for a job working alone, so I'll keep an eye out.

Glad you found something worthwhile and your excited about. Half of the battle is knowing what you want to do. So, I think your on your way.

Yesterday, I went to a temp agency and found a job I liked there. IDK if it's gone or not. The person handling that location will be back on Monday. I'll find out on Monday. It's a temporary could go permanent position. So, wait and see. It's kind of scary for me because it's less pay and alittle stress to start over again. But I've got the balls to do it. I think I need to take a leap of faith and just do it. I need a change. wait and see.

Let me know how things go with your two jobs. I'll let you know if I apply again anywhere.

Things are going well, I think I want to eventually go back to school to be a social worker so these jobs will just be means of getting me back into school, but I'm waiting until Jan 2 to start applying.

I think I'll be waiting for January also. Kind of a good month to start over isn't it?
