Default How to resign

I plan on putting in my two weeks notice tomorrow. It's not going to be easy, but I know this is the right move for me.

I'm not really sure how my work (I'm a 7-Eleven Store manager) is going to react. Is two weeks really the right thing to do here? Could they want to get rid of me before the 2 weeks is up? If they do could I still get notice pay (or whatever it's called), or would I not get that since I was the one quitting, and not being fired?

if you need to put your current job as a referrence on your resume (for future employments) then, yes. you need to put the 2 weeks notice before you leave. if you don't care, you can walk out of the door right now, just don't expect to come back for that job. they can not fire you because you already quit. the 2 weeks is just a formality.

Hi

I work in Human Resources in the Uk, do you have a copy of your contract to hand if so check out the notice period bit. If not ask for a copy of it to read it. In the Uk if someone gives their notice and we want them to leave immediately then we need to honour the two weeks, not sure about your legislation but if they want to accept it and you to go earlier it would only seem right that they pay you the notice period but it may be way differnent in your country.

Well done though for making a decision that is right for you. I did that a month ago and stepped down from a Managers job feeling so much better not having to worry about my job and five others jobs just concentrating on me now and actually dare I tempt fate and say this I am enjoying work again, still wish I could retire but hey would rather have a job than not.
