Default Aw crap

Well, I put my two weeks notcie in for my job two weeks ago tomorrow. I assumed my job would want me to stay around a little bit longer than that while they get things figured out. I told then I could be flexible with my last day, but just so we had something in writing, I went ahead and summitted a letter of resignation stating my last day will be March 5th.

I haven't heard much of anything from my bosses since then, only that they were figuring things out and not to inform my employees of the move until they settled on something.

This afternoon, March 4th, I got a call from my market manager. He basically told me they have a plan in place and we can move ahead with tomorrow being my last day.

They've already paid me my last check (just checking my bank statement)but my insurance expires the day I leave the company. So, tomorrow. I can still (and probably will) get COBRA. But I'm still trying to figure thigns out with my new job (the one that can't pay me until mid-may), and haven't been able to look for anything temporary in the meantime.

Could I still get unemployment from my previous job? I was laid-off from my last job back in September.

Anyway, I'm gonna have a lot more time on my hands, but the well my run dry quickly if I can't get another job lined up soon.

If you're employed, you can't get unemployment. You also can't unemployment when you were laid off previously (that's how it is in Ohio). But don't take my word for it, ask your local office. They'll help you out.
Although your company can't "pay" you, they might be able to give you some sort of payment to help you cover your expenses. It never hurts to ask.
Good Luck.
